  • Student Residence Permit

    Americans accepted to an Azerbaijani university can obtain a student residence permit through the State Migration Service. Baku Engineering University and Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University attract international students and offer some English-medium programs, particularly in petroleum engineering and technology fields relevant to the country's dominant industry. Baku is a rapidly modernizing city with ambitious architecture and a low cost of living relative to its Gulf-like aspirations.

  • Family Reunification Residence Permit

    American residents in Azerbaijan can sponsor a spouse and dependent children for family reunification through the State Migration Service. The sponsor must hold a valid temporary residence permit and demonstrate sufficient income and adequate housing for the family. Family reunification permits are issued for one year and are renewable in line with the sponsor's permit; family members may work and are eligible for permanent residency after five years of continuous legal stay in Azerbaijan.
