Singapore's Employment Pass is for skilled foreign professionals with a job offer earning at least SGD $5,600/month (~$4,700 USD). Singapore is the financial and tech hub of Southeast Asia, with English as the primary language of business, world-class infrastructure, very low crime, and a strategic location. PR can be applied for after 2 years, and citizenship after 5+ years of residence.
Americans accepted to a Singaporean institution of higher learning can obtain a Student Pass for the duration of their program, approved through the Student's Pass Online Application and Registration (SOLAR) system. Singapore's universities — NUS, NTU, SMU, and SUTD — are consistently ranked among the world's top 50 and are fully English-medium, making Singapore the most academically prestigious study destination in Southeast Asia by a wide margin. Tuition at public universities is subsidized but still moderate; the city-state's safety, efficiency, and global connectivity are unmatched in the region.
Singapore's Tech.Pass is for established tech leaders, founders, and experts earning SGD $22,500+/month (~$17,000 USD) or with significant startup/tech experience. Unlike other work passes, it does not require a job offer — holders can start companies, be employed by multiple employers, or be a director of a Singapore-based company. Singapore aggressively recruits global tech talent with this elite pathway.
